Trend vs. Tradition...

A current trend is a "meet-n-greet".... A “meet-n-greet” is when the bride and groom are able to see each other before ceremony, share a special, first glance moment and also ensure enough time for photos prior to staying "I do."

And the American tradition says the groom is not to see the bride until she is being escorted down the aisle.

Or do you try the Royal way??? Like Prince William. He did not watch Kate walk down the aisle because of tradition!!!! With the Royal way.... the groom is the last person to see the bride, and can only do so after she has completed the long walk down the aisle and is by his side!

It is a hard decision!!! Do you miss part of cocktail hour for photos or get them done prior; do you sneak a peak of each other or patiently wait! Only the two of you can decide what is right for you!!! What will it be?!

Traditions & Superstitions ...

I came across this page on theKnot.com and I found it really interesting. It was 50 Wedding Traditions and Superstitions .... And I just had to share it with all of you!!!! Below are the what I considered the most intriguing from the list:

  • On average, 7,000 couples marry each day in the United States

  • Seventeen tons of gold are made into wedding rings each year in the United States

  • Saturday is the unluckiest wedding day, according to English folklore. Funny -- it's the most popular day of the week to marry!

  • The English believe a spider found in a wedding dress means good luck. Yikes!

  • One of history's earliest engagement rings was given to Princess Mary, daughter of Henry VIII. She was two years old at the time.

  • Brides carry or wear "something old" on their wedding day to symbolize continuity with the past

  • The "something blue" in a bridal ensemble symbolizes purity, fidelity, and love.

  • An old wives' tale: If the younger of two sisters marries first, the older sister must dance barefoot at the wedding or risk never landing a husband.

Personal Touches...

One of the things I love the most about being a wedding event specialist... is seeing all the personal touches! Every wedding we do here at The Rosewood has a personal touch from the bride and groom. Personal touch meaning the bride and groom are bringing an added sense of individuality to their special day. Every couple shares special moments, places, etc. and I just love seeing what those elements are!

This past weekend we shared in the celebration of Nancy and Josh's wedding day. This fun-loving couple added spice to their cake topper.... Check out the pictures below!

The couple added their faces to their the cake toppers! So much fun! (above and below)

Nancy and Josh had a unique idea for their table numbers! (above) Instead of the traditional frame... the couple used wine bottles!

Congratulations Nancy and Josh!!! We hope your having a blast in Greece!

Its always exciting when we hear our past brides are now moms! (We love to keep in touch with all our past brides & grooms.... you are all part of our Rosewood family!!!) I would like to take this moment to say with this wonderful holiday approaching.... HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! And to share some Mother's Day Facts....

- Mother's Day was created by Anna Jarvas in 1908, but it wasn't an official national holiday until 1914!

- The holiday was made official by President Woodrow Wilson.

- Mother's Day became so commercialized... Anna Jarvas spent the rest of her life fighting what she saw as an abuse of the celebration. She was actually arrested in 1948 for disturbing the peace while protesting against the commercialization of Mother's Day.

- In the United States, Mother's Day is one of the biggest days for the sale of flowers and greeting cards.

- Mother's Day is also the biggest holiday for long-distance telephone calls!
